Manager Mark Warburton confirmed that Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell trained with his new colleagues for the first time yesterday as we put the final touches on a season long loan spell.

Speaking up the young talent, Warburton told the Nottingham Post that Dowell would add ‘technical excellence’ to the group and that he possessed a ‘lovely left foot’ and he was very much looking forward to working with him.

Dowell would arrive as an England Under 20 international and he also has two Premier League appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side such is their hope in the 19 year old’s future.

‘The paperwork is being completed, it is just the formalities that need to be finalised. But we are delighted to welcome him to the club.’

Dowell of course lifted the Under 20 World Cup this summer.

‘He brings quality, he is coming from a top Premier League club, he has international experience and had a very good summer with England, at the Under-20 World Cup. He is a young, talented player and we are very much looking forward to seeing him develop and contribute. He has technical excellence, he is comfortable on the ball and can play in a variety of positions. He has flexibility and a hunger and a passion when he plays.’

Warburton went on to say.

‘We want those type of players, allied to the experienced and senior players we have in the squad as well. He has a good grounding and a good CV. He has a good physical size and good mobility. He has a great delivery and a lovely left foot. He has come in, he is a talented player, he is fit, he is well – he is available for selection.’

He will be our sixth addition of the summer and the gaffer remains hopeful of getting one more in before we kick off the campaign against Millwall on Friday but that looks like a tight window unless things move fast.

‘We hope for one more player, who we are targeting. Then we are almost done. It has been a good summer, lots of work has gone on. All credit to Frank (McParland) and his team and the support we have received from the CEO and everyone else at the club. Ideally we want to bring in one more player before Friday, but we will see how it goes. I am delighted with the work we have done in the transfer market, because we wanted certain positions to be filled and we wanted a certain type of player to come in. We have seen that.’

He went on to add about captures so far.

‘Barrie McKay is an outstanding talent, as are Jason Cummings, Tendayi Darikwa and Andreas Bouchalakis. We have a good variety coming in. Daryl Murphy is a proven Championship striker with experience and a physicality, but also a lot of expertise. We have added variety and quality to the talent we already had.’
