With the announcement of the EFL Cup third round draw later this morning, the all important ball numbers have been decided.

The draw will take place at 4.15am British Standard Time this morning because the EFL simply cannot take their eye off the money.

Let’s face it, nobody will be awake (apart from insomniacs and many will have their own thoughts when the EFL claim the competition is being devalued) but at least the Chinese market, especially in Beijing can be entertained – presuming they can actually get the draw right this time.

Maybe that’s the reason, people who care will be asleep so mistakes can be covered up before we all wake?

Next up we’ll no doubt have the Chinese Super League fixtures announced at 3pm on a Saturday UK time because it makes all the sense in the world doesn’t it.

We’ve heard the excuses from the EFL already and they conveniently had to involve words like ‘sponsors’ and ‘investors’ and the really stupid thing is the draw is not even being televised in China.

So real fans are now again sidelined for a marketing ploy that doesn’t even serve a real purpose.

Well played EFL, formerly the Football Association who forgot the rebrand to the English Football League might upset our Welsh clubs. The UK rocks doesn’t it.

Classy as ever…but look at that wonga!

I’m bored writing, you’re bored reading (if you’re even awake) so ball numbers.

If this competition hasn’t already become ballsy enough.
