Little was expected of Sammy Ameobi when he joined Nottingham Forest on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers, but the 27-year-old has impressed in his early days at the City Ground. Ameobi has made five Championship appearances and made one assist.
He’s created three chances, made eight successful dribbles (53%), has hit the target with 33% of his shots, has won 13 aerial duels (65%) and completes 71% of his 18.4 passes-per-game. A lot of fans have been made to eat their words after seeing the Englishman confound his critics.
Im gonna say it i was wrong about Ameobi i thought hes had his chances to show any quality but since hes been at forest he looks quality. Nice to see big grabben get a couple #nffc

Supporters could be forgiven for assuming Ameobi wouldn’t have much of an impact in the East Midlands. He scored and created only 19 goals in 91 games for Bolton and was playing in League One only two years ago. Nevertheless, the versatile forward has started brightly at Forest and could be an important player under Sabri Lamouchi.
Ameobi will have stiff competition from the likes of Joe Lolley, Albert Adomah and Matty Cash, but he’s proving his worth when given an opportunity and is earning his place in the side on merit. The 27-year-old’s form has coincided with Forest’s strong start too, with the Reds sitting ninth in the Championship after five games.
