Just as you thought things couldn’t get any worse on the Reds’ injury front, the club announce that striker Robert Earnshaw is to have a scan. Earnshaw came off in the 5-1 humiliation at Wolves at the weekend after it was feared he had torn his hamstring.

Earnshaw is the only 100% fit recognised striker at the club at present and his loss would deal a severe blow to both Calderwood and the fans. Tyson and Cole may well be on the recovery trail, but they are at least a couple of games away from full match fitness.

Calderwood told BBC Radio Nottingham. ‘We’ll get it scanned Tuesday or Wednesday. He’s got the Welsh team call-up but fortunately they’re at home, so we can keep him here and scan him but we hope it’s just a bit of tiredness.’

Supporters won’t give a monkey’s if he misses the Wales game, so long as he’s fit for our encounter with Burnley on September 13. The international break this week leaves us without a game, so hopefully the break will give him enough time to recover. Until the results of the scan are known, it’s going to be bum twitching time for fans. Keep yer fingers crossed for a positive outcome.
