Ben Watson underwhelmed as Nottingham Forest played out a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion. The midfielder has been brought back into the starting eleven by Martin O’Neill, but his performances have been below-par and his place in the side could be up for grabs unless he improves. Watson was frozen out by former manager Aitor Karanka as a result of poor form and supporters are hoping O’Neill does the same after his latest error-strewn showing.

The 33-year-old has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season. Watson was a regular at the start of the campaign, featuring in nine of Forest’s first 13 Championship outings, before he was exiled for three months. He’s made four league appearances under O’Neill, captaining the side, but may not last long in the starting eleven with Claudio Yacob waiting in the wings. Fans have certainly made their feelings clear.

Watson still has 18 months remaining on his contract at the City Ground, but he may not be retained past the summer. The midfielder isn’t getting any younger and has stiff competition who could dethrone him. Whether he keeps his place for Forest’s clash with Preston North End on February 16 remains to be seen.
