Blackburn Rovers’ pursuit of Ben Brereton seems to be continuing if the Sun are to be believed. Journalist Alan Nixon reported over the weekend that an £8m bid had been made for the 19-year-old.

So far we haven’t accepted an offer for the teenager, but it’s clear that Tony Mowbray’s side are determined to secure a deal for the striker.

When I polled supporters about whether we should consider accepting Blackburn’s latest proposal, a small majority think we should hold on to the player:

A previous report by the Sun indicated that we have set a £12m asking price for Brereton, and it will be interesting to see whether Rovers match that amount if we reject their latest offer.

A lot has already been said on the prospect of the forward leaving but I think the key thing here is what Aitor Karanka said on the matter last week:

“If Blackburn want the player, the player wants to go and the amount of money is good for Forest, then good. If nothing arrives with that, then I am really pleased. Because he is a really good player, with a really good future.”

“Always, it is about those three parties. If the offer is no good, we are going to say no. If the player does not want to go, it will not happen. I am calm, I have the player here, he has a very good future. Let’s see.”

It seems that Rovers have yet to offer anything close to what the club are demanding, while it’s not certain Ben would want to go anyway.
