Right enough of the international stuff, time to focus back on the club football.
Nottingham Forest face perhaps one of their biggest tests of the season this weekend as they travel to South Wales to take on Swansea City on Saturday.
We have seen that Forest have done incredibly well against the teams that are heavily favoured to be near the top of the table this year like Leeds United, Fulham and West Brom (mistakes by Muric aside).
Even though Swansea were not predicted to do well this season, they have started incredibly well. They currently sit top of the table, are undefeated in the league and knocked off many people’s favourites for the league Leeds United in their last match before the international break. So these guys are not to be taken lightly.
One of the big things in this game will be the fact it comes off the back of the international break. Having put together a tremendous run of form beforehand, will the stoppage merely act as a way for Lamouchi and his coaching staff to fine-tune some things, or will it prove to have come at a bad time and put an end to all the momentum that we’ve put together.
I think it will personally lean towards the latter, Forest only lost two players to the international break, Brennan Johnson and Aro Muric, so it’s not as if Lamouchi only got to work with half his squad.
It’s probably too early to call this a ‘six-pointer’, but I think a good performance and a good result will be a very good marker to set down just how far this Forest team is capable of going. And seeing as I think they have the chance to go all the way this year, I’m hoping that a positive result is what we get.
