Match Report From Kid’s Corner, Forest v Derby, Saturday 22nd February 2014.

Derby day! Like Forest, Derby were hitting a bad run of form, Derby with no goals in 6 hours and Forest without a win in 7. The Reds were looking to do the double over their main rivals this season but all the odds were stacked up against Forest.

The Reds were without numerous key players due to injury, but some of them are getting closer to recovery. Alright then here we go.

From the off Derby started to create great chances and after only 5 minutes a lucky ricochet fell to Bryson who’s shot deflected into the bottom corner. 1-0!

It took Derby to score before Forest woke up, they started to keep possession and then they got there first shot on target when Majewski found a little pocket of space but it didn’t trouble Grant.

Forest were keeping and dominating possession but they were doing nothing with it and when Moussi let Bryson get to the ball ahead of him it was 2-0, Bryson tucking the ball neatly into the corner!

As soon as Forest kicked off they were in trouble again and when a Forest corner was headed away, Bamford found Hendrick who ran through and dispatched the ball cooly, 3-0 game over…. Awful!

Derby were breezing past this deflated, weak Forest side who weren’t helping their terrible run of form. Nothing much happened after that third goal apart from one or two bad challenges and the Reds players still making loads of mistakes. Half time.

All of Forest’s players will have gone into the dressing room at Half time and, deservedly, received a real wake up call from Billy. Up to now Forest were awful and it would have to be an amazing performance in the second half if they would want salvage something.

Like most of the fans expected, Forest came out and started making a few good chances but none on target. However, 10 minutes into the second half all hopes of a comeback were destroyed when no-one closed down Russell and his thunder bolt of a shot made it 4-0! Embarrassment, once again Forest had given away a goal from very poor defending!

Forest made a few more chances in the next 20 minutes, the best of them falling to Henderson who couldn’t find the target with his header.

Then the inevitable, Bamford went through and Darlow recklessly came racing out and got none of the ball, penalty. Bryson stepped up with the chance to be the first Derby player in over 100 years to score a hat-trick against Forest! He jogged up to the ball and placed the ball straight down the middle into the net, 5-0, Bryson hat-trick.

Nothing else of note happened in the game with the Reds lucky not to conceded 6 or 7, full time.

Some things have got to change at Forest or there will be no play offs! If I was watching this game and knew nothing about the championship, I’d think that Forest were in the relegation zone, that’s how bad it actually was! People will still blame the injuries but that was woeful, infact I don’t think it was good enough to be woeful!
