Deja Vu?

With Nathan Tyson beginning to rediscover some form does it not seem a familiar situation to last season in which a lack of firepower upfront hampered our promotion push?

Tyson`s injury sustained on Saturday against Swindon Town came after a neat finish had provided us with a crucial three points. Does this situation seem familiar to anyone?

Last season injuries upfront cost us in a promotion push where we left with the goals or lack off from Grant Holt and Scott Dobie to lead us back to The Championship. With the absence of Tyson do we have enough goals up to cope with out him? I believe so but Tyson brings so much to the team than goals. Like he showed at Leeds his pace will cause problems for most teams in this division.

I believe a lot will depend on Junior Agogo and whether he not he can reproduce his form prior to and during the African Cup of Nations. If Saturday was anything to go by the answer is yes. Agogo looked sharp and can hopefully form a good partnership with the on loan Hoskins.

Hoskins has looked sharp in the two games he has played and when he recovers some match fitness the loss of Tyson may not be as significant. However, with Holt the only recognised striker as back up do we have enough cover? This I am not sure about although goals from the midfield could come from the likes of Commons and Mcgugan.

Calderwood may need to dive into the emergency loan market again in my opinion just to be on the safe side. Holt can score but is not prolific and Commons tends to go on a goal-scoring run followed by a dry spell and is currently on the latter. Davies could potentially aid the team`s cause but has yet to deliver on the promise we had all hoped when he signed.

With or without Tyson I believe the squad is stronger than most in this league but if like last season Agogo was to also get injured we would be short. I hope Calderwood sees this and acts whilst he still can.
