Defender puts Nottingham Forest on alert with message ahead of January window – Report

|

Talk about putting yourself in the shop window.

That’s what Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna will be hoping to do during this international break as his Scotland side prepares to take on Cyprus and Kazakhstan over the next couple of days.

He said recently that this upcoming break will serve as a great opportunity for him to showcase his talents and hopefully be enough to force a move away from Pittodrie, as he came close to doing during the previous transfer window:

“Teams will look at that and see if I can handle it. That’s always what I’m trying to prove to them. I just need to keep my head down and see what happens come January. “There was maybe a bit of expectancy for it to happen [move in the summer]. When you have been working for the full year, building up to that point that you thought was going to be THE time, there was that wee bit of disappointment.”

Nottingham Forest were one of a number of clubs interested in him during the summer and even went so far as to make a bid for him, although it was rejected by the Dons.

Whilst Nottingham Forest do already have a plethora of centre-backs at their disposal, with Joe Worrall, Michael Dawson, Tobias Figueiredo and Chema already making first-team appearances this season, with Yohan Benalouane and Michael Hefele still to return from injury, a string of decent performances for both club and country could entice Nottingham Forest to go back in for him during the January transfer window.

As they showed with the departure of Alexander Milosevic at the end of last month, they are more than willing to let players go if they don’t think they are offering enough to the team, so just because they have six on their books now doesn’t mean that they’re guaranteed to hold onto that many for the rest of the campaign.

Do Nottingham Forest need another CB?

Yes

No

No

The question is though, will McKenna put in the kind of displays that will force them to make such moves, or will they just stick with what they have got?
