Mark Warburton has praised the debutants for their displays in Friday evenings victory over Millwall, but insisted he will rotate the pack for Shrewsbury in midweek.

Having opened up the Championship campaign with all three points at the City Ground on Friday evening, Nottingham Forest quickly go into Tuesday’s League Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town and although Warburton was pleased with the performances of our newbies, fans can expect changes.

Speaking to the Official Forest Site on Sunday, the gaffer explained.

‘Barrie is a real talent. My thoughts on him are very clear; I think he is an outstanding player who can be anything he wants to be. He has got ability, he is technical, quick and relaxed in possession and he is clever. Kieran came on and showed a relaxed demeanour on the ball. He was calm and assured and I was delighted for him.’

Warburton went on to say.

‘The whole squad has been outstanding in pre-season and they know what we think of them. They are an honest group of players and they know we have to be good as a group. Tendayi has come in and shown great physicality. David Vaughan as an older head was great and we had some good points but we know we were below our level.’

Anticipating changes for Tuesday’s game, Warburton said he remained confident that whoever he picked to start the match would produce the goods and take their chance to impress.

‘We have a squad and I could have played a completely different team and had no concerns. That is where we want to be with a competitive squad where everyone is pushing for a place. We will make changes on Tuesday but we have no doubt about putting out a very strong team.’
