Davies – Warnock Is On A Different Planet

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock, yesterday showed exactly why he’s one of the most detestable characters in football. He’s not only issued a verbal tirade at Forest boss Billy Davies, but he’s defended the indefensible, following a malicious and dangerous tackle from one of his own players on Paul Anderson.

The game at Selhurst Park ended all square at 1-1, but the post match comments by both managers have cast a shadow over what was a decent game of football. Right on the stroke of half time, Palace defender Clint Hill collided with winger Paul Anderson. Hill was clearly seen by all on the Forest bench to deliberately elbow Anderson in the head.

Neil Warnock was quick to rush to his players defence and his verbal lambasting of the officials on the touchline, saw to it that Hill escaped with nothing more than a yellow, for what was a blatent and dirty challenge on the Forest player.

After the match Davies told The Daily Mail. ‘Don’t let Neil Warnock try and dismiss this. I respect him but there are times when he is on a different planet. My medical staff wanted him off immediately. That’s how seriously they took this.’

Warnock as you’d expect, saw things rather differently. He had the balls to say. ‘I thought it was yellow. It was reckless but not malicious. Tell Mr Davis to keep his mouth shut. That is a disgraceful statement. If I had £4.5million to spend I would play different football.’

The challenge, if you can call it that, had Anderson sparked out on the pitch for over 3 mins and was immediately replaced by Gareth McLeary. There really are times when Warnock should learn to keep it shut himself and this is clearly one of them.
