Davies Wants Experience – But Will He Get It?

Like many Forest fans, I had pinned the remains of my rapidly diminishing hopes of seeing some new faces arriving at the club on the fact that once the 93 day loan period kicked into effect, it would signal the arrival of at least one loan signing into our threadbare squad. But, we’re 5 days into it now, the clock is a ticking…..and we’re still no nearer welcoming any newbies through the door than we were last January.

Billy Davies is probably as bemused as the fans, as to why the expected ‘stellar signings’ talked about by Chairman Nigel Doughty and his Chief Executive Mark Arthur haven’t arrived yet, but we live in hope.

Those hopes were raised slightly today, with news from the official site that there is to be a ‘strictly behind closed doors friendly’ tomorrow at the City Ground against giants of the game Loughborough University. Hopefully that is to have a look at a player or two with a view to bringing them in on loan, but don’t hold your breath, as it could be yet another false dawn and we’ve had plenty of those.

With the international break now upon us and nothing much else to do, Billy Davies thinks it may give even our notoriously slow Acquisitions Panel enough time to negotiate at least one deal. He told Sky Sports News, that he’s looking for players with experience and personality, which he believes is lacking in the current squad. The big question now is will Billy get his wish, or will he once again be ignored by those above him at the club?
