Despite being sidelined for much of last season with a serious knee injury, Billy Davies hopes to bring Birmingham City winger Gary McSheffrey to the City Ground.

Forest face competition from the Blunts of Sheffield, who have been linked with most of Davies’ targets this summer. If Billy Boy wants his man, he’s going to have to shell out the best part of £1.5m.

Davies has made no secret of his admiration for McSheffrey, who made 4 appearances whilst on loan from the Blues at the end of the last campaign. Unfortunately for us, he made little impact on the team, but that was purely down to his fitness. Davies sent him back early and told him to get himself fit, with a view to bringing him to the City Ground permanently.

Since returning to St. Andrews, McSheffrey has had the troublesome knee operated on again and will now hopefully put his injury nightmare behind him. The question for Forest fans though, is whether he can recapture his previous form. At £1.5m…..we hope so.
