The long term future for Forest defender Kelvin Wilson lies at Celtic, after the two clubs and the player agreed a pre contract agreement for him to sign for the Bhoys in the summer.

Since that deal was made, Lennon has made no secret of the fact that he’d like to take the player sooner. Wilson’s contract ends in the summer and he will be able to move for free, but Forest have said that he’s going nowhere before then, unless £600,000 is put on the table for him.

Davies is unhappy at the way Lennon has been so public and is in no mood to be pressurised into letting the player go before he has to. He told Sky Sports News. ‘I think Celtic have done a lot of talking in the press. There are only 13 weeks of the season left and having to bring in players now, either on loan or permanently is something you have to be careful about. Losing Wilson and having to then replace him, with the disruption that would entail? For me, it is a no-brainer.’

Allowing Wilson to go without an adequate replacement being brought in, would be a mistake according to Davies and he’s right. However, if Celtic were to put the money on the table, you can’t see Forest turning it down. It looks like the ball is in Lennon’s court. Either he pays up, or shuts up and waits until the summer.
