Despite back to back defeats in the opening two games of the season, Forest manager Billy Davies was in a confident mood ahead of the televised clash with Leeds United today.

Certain sections of the Forest support have already written off the teams chances of doing well this season, following the 1-0 defeat at Burnley and the 2-1 Carling Cup exit at Bradford in midweek. Admittedly it’s not been the best of starts, but it’s a bit early to be reaching for the knife drawer and slashing yer wrists.

Speaking to the official site, Davies reminds fans that we only won 1 in our first 8 games last season and still went onto finish 3rd in the table. ‘With the two performances we’ve lost two games that we should have won when you look at the way we played. We’ve missed a host of chances but there have been lots of positives.’

The lack of new signings hasn’t helped the mood of supporters, who rightly believe that a couple of decent additions would have given us a better chance to push on this season and improve on that 3rd place finish. There’s no doubting that the team needs reinforcements and strengthening, especially as the squad is weaker than it was last year. That’s the only negative we can have at the moment, but there is still another fortnight to go before the transfer window closes and even then, there’s the loan window after that.

For what it’s worth, I do believe we will get those quality additions we expect and crave so much, it’s just a question of patience. So long as Billy is feeling confident and happy, then so should we. When he isn’t, we’ll know about it soon enough and that will be the time to panic. For now the mood is good, so have a little faith and believe.
