Crunch Time

Just seven games remain as the season draws to a close and everything is still to play for with the automatic promotion places still very much in the balance.

An encouraging start to the season gave the indication that automatic promotion was a certainty but a dip in form has proved that a season in the football league is a marathon not a sprint. Our own form is not fully responsible as surrounding clubs have been on solid runs of form.

Scunthorpe`s good run of form looks likely to secure themselves a place in the championship next season although there last few results have hinted at a dip in form. That leaves us, Bristol City and even Yeovil to battle it out for second spot.

Yeovil can`t afford any slip-ups at all and I would be very shocked if they managed to grab second spot. Our run in is not the easiest with four away games still to play, at this stage in the season this will not be easy.

Two victories were vital going in to the showdown at Ashton Gate, which is potentially our biggest game of the season. The fact that Tyson scored is also significant, as hopefully it will kick him of on a bit of a scoring run in for the run in. We will need his goals now Agogo is out injured.

The game on Saturday is the definition of a six pointer with the emphasis been on us to go and win the game. City would settle for a point where a win for us would put them under enormous pressure. Defeat is unthinkable as the gap would almost certainly be too much for us to make up.

If we beat Bristol on Saturday I would fancy our chances for promotion Defeat would leave us in the lottery of the playoffs and with Yeovil and Swansea I would not fancy our chances.

Bristol have more to lose than us and they will also be feeling the pressure. I think it will be a good game on Saturday but just hope it`s the result we all want.

So the fun is just beginning, lets hope it a win Saturday will spare us the torture of the playoffs.
