Steve Cotterill looks to be heading for a showdown with the clubs’ new owners, following his dismissal from the club on Thursday.

Within 48 hours of taking control of Nottingham Forest, the Al-Hasawi brothers dismissed Cotterill from his position as Forest boss.

In a statement released through the League Managers Association, Cotterill said. ‘I am deeply disappointed that I will no longer have the opportunity to manage Nottingham Forest Football Club and lead the team into this new era. I believed the team’s performances last season were good enough for me to be given a chance with the new regime and continue to build again for the new season.’

Cotterill was only nine months into a three and a half year contract with the Reds’ and will be due a huge sum in compensation. The fact the matter is now with the LMA, suggests he is going to fight for every penny of it.

  • Steve may well feel that he deserved a chance, and to be fair he’s right, but, we are entering a new era now and a fresh start with someone, hopefully more high profile is most probably what is required.
