Commons Gets Freudian

Kris Commons today insisted Forest have a psychological advantage over tonight’s play-off opponents Yeovil.

The Reds midfielder believes Russell Slade’s side will be second-guessing themselves after losing to Forest twice already this season.

Yeovil haven’t managed to score against Colin Calderwood’s men – losing 1-0 on both occasions thanks to strikes from Grant Holt.

And Commons reckons that could play right into Forest’s hands ahead of their semi-final first leg tonight.

He said: ‘We should be stronger than Yeovil. We’ve beaten them twice so that might play mind games with them given that they haven’t beaten us yet this season.

‘Hopefully we can go down there and do exactly the same.

‘We’re confident. We are playing well enough to give any teams problems.’

Despite taking maximum points against Yeovil this season, both matches were tight, with Forest needing a last minute goal at Huish Park in September.

And with Yeovil boasting the best defensive record at home in League One, Commons expects another close match.

‘They are a good side who can cause us problems so we’ve got to try to stamp our authority,’ he said. ‘Hopefully we can get a couple of goals to bring back to the City Ground.’
