Colin’s Christmas Wish

Colin Calderwood today said his only Christmas wish is to see Scott Dobie back in the Forest first team over the festive period.

The striker returned to training this week, after suffering yet another injury set-back as he recovers from pioneering surgery on his hip.

Dobie, 28, has this time been sidelined for two weeks by a hamstring strain, but Calderwood hopes this will be the last niggling injury picked up by the former West Brom man.

‘The best Christmas present for me would be getting Scott Dobie back involved in December, for him to play a part in the first team,’ said Calderwood.

‘And hopefully he will be able to play a major part in the final bit of the season.

‘He might be in and out of the side – but that is my wish, for him to have a little bit of enjoyment and to be involved.’

Dobie’s hamstring strain followed on from a thigh problem, that had earlier hampered his return.

But it is not unusual for a player to pick up minor problems when recovering from major surgery.

‘We are aware that these things will happen, with the seriousness of his operation,’ said Calderwood.

‘It is just an up and down thing with him at the minute. But I’d really like him to have a wee bit of joy, particularly at Christmas.

‘We want him to feel that he is involved, even if it is just being able to travel with the rest of the squad.’
