According to BBC Radio Nottingham, Colchester United have put in a £100,000 bid for defender Mathew Lockwood.

Lockwood joined Forest last summer for an undisclosed fee from Orient, where he had nine years as a crowd favourite. It was widely expected when he arrived that he would automatically get the Left Back spot and he did at first, until he was injured in the first game of the season against Bournemouth. After that he was kept out of the side due to the great form of Player of the Season, Julian Bennett.

He only managed to clock up 13 appearances for the Reds and did suffer from a lack of confidence when he did play. It may not have worked out for him on Trentside, but there’s no doubting his quality, ask any Orient fan about that.
