Forest captain Chris Cohen was dealt the devastating news this week that he will miss the rest of the season, following news that he damaged his cruciate knee ligaments at the weekend.

Cohen limped off the pitch during the 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday and found out on Monday, that the injury will now keep him out of action for the remainder of this campaign.

The 26 year old has made the left back position his own, since moving there from midfield and has been an everpresent in the side. His absence will be seen as a massive blow to the club, both as captain and as a vital member of the team.

Cohen sent a message of thanks to supporters via the official site, saying. ‘I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to every fan who has offered me their support since the news broke of the severity of my injury. The amount of messages I`ve been sent is extremely humbling. Playing football is my favourite thing in the world. That might seem easy to say but I think anyone who has seen me train or play knows that to be true. I don’t care how it comes across, I genuinely love it.’

There is one very small piece of good news, in respect of the club also saying that this latest injury is not a reoccurrence of the knee problem he picked up against Derby in 2011, which kept him out for 11 months. Get well soon Chris Cohen.
