The club could still be interested in signing Peterborough striker Jack Marriott, according to Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony.
The Posh’s owner has been regularly responding to questions on Twitter about potential transfers, and he confirmed that Aitor Karanka has been interested in the forward:
Jamie, Karanka had dinner with my Gaffer a few weeks ago & that’s not what was said 👀. But regardless of that well done on your recruitment. https://t.co/3B46tmKULm

It was assumed that our £6m capture of Lewis Grabban from Bournemouth would be the end of our pursuit for a striker, but when initially asked whether we were now out of the running, MacAnthony replied:
Who said that https://t.co/83Pg7UtT4m

Of course, this could just be pure gamesmanship from the Peterborough chairman. He is likely trying to drum up interest in Marriott, who scored 33 goals in all competitions last season, with no club seemingly interested in matching his valuation.
MacAnthony has previously revealed that one club has made three separate bids for the striker, while another has made two offers. The League One forward is reportedly valued at £5m, plus £2m in add-ons according to a past report by the Daily Mail.
