Nottingham Forest have announced that Frank Clark is to succeed Nigel Doughty as Chairman of the club with immediate effect.

Nigel Doughty announced his intention to stand down from his position, following the resignation of manager Steve McClaren almost a fortnight ago.

The appointment of Clark will be seen as a popular one by the majority supporters, who will associate the former player and managers’ previous spells with the club as a period of success.

Clark managed the Reds’ between 1993-1996. He won promotion back to the FA Carling Premiership in his first season, followed by third place and qualification for the UEFA Cup the following year. He was also a member of the European Cup winning team in 1979. Welcome home Mr. Clark.
