Today was the culmination of what turns out to have been an almost perfect season for Forest fans. The Reds’ promoted, the Sheep and Fester down and Lucky Leeds failing at the last hurdle in the Play Offs.

Donny Rovers join Swansea and Forest in promotion to the Championship, following a deserved 1-0 win in the League 1 Play Off Final at Wembley. The only goal of the game came in the 46th min from James Hayter, after Donny dominated for the full 90 mins. The result means Lucky Leeds are resigned to a second year in the grave yard that is League 1, as Rovers marched on to the Championship.

On Saturday Bristol City lost 1-0 to Hull in the Championship Play Off Final, to see them stay in the division for anther year and therefore a meeting with the Reds’ next season. West Brom, Stoke and Hull were all promoted to the Premiership.

The relegation battles in League 1 were settled on the last day of the season proper, with Luton, Port Vale, Gillingham and Bournemouth going down to League 2. Relegated from the Championship are Leicester, Scunthorpe and Colchester.

As well as the Rams joining us in the Championship next season, will be Premiership relegation boys Reading and Birmingham. It will be a tough division with the likes of Wolves, Crystal Palace, Watford and Sheffield United, to name but a few. Despite some tough times ahead, it will be a million times better than what the last 3 years have been like in League 1. The one remaining game on the Football League itinerary, is the League 2 Play Off Final between Rochdale and Stockport tomorrow. The fixtures come out on June 16, at 10am. Until then, you can keep up with all things Tricky at Vital Forest. Enjoy the summer.
