Luke Chambers, as he told the official website, has spoke of his ‘honour’ and ‘gratitude’ at being named the new Forest captain.

Named the captain on Thursday Chambers will not let this ‘change’ him although he knows that perhaps a ‘bit more expectancy’ will be placed on him: ‘it’s a massive honour and I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity.

‘It’s something I’ve always said I’d like to take on and I think I’d maybe earned the right to be considered for the position.

‘The gaffer has come in and seen what I’m all about and chosen me. I’m grateful to him.

‘It won’t change my performances, or anything that I do in or around the club. I’ll just be the same person I always am but maybe with a little bit more expectancy on my shoulders.’

He has captained Forest before, so this is not entirely new to him, and was also captain at a former club Northampton.

The right call?

Time will tell, but what say you the folk of Vital Forest…
