Lee Camps’ hopes of furthering his international football career, were given a massive boost today, with news that he’s been given the green light to play for N. Ireland.

After months of delays over paperwork and beaurocratic red tape, FIFA have finally given the Reds’ stopper the go ahead to play for the Irish.

Despite the fact that Camp has earned five caps for the England Under-21 team, he qualifies for N. Ireland through one of his grandparents.

Camp told the BBC. ‘I am looking forward to the opportunity to join up with the squad. It seems like I have been waiting forever for the relevant paperwork to be sorted out with Fifa. I would like to thank Nigel Worthington for his patience and for giving me the chance to become involved in the Northern Ireland team.’
