Colin Calderwood today warned Nottingham Forest not to be first-round fall guys when they face Yeading in the FA Cup tomorrow.

Manchester United were bombed out of the Carling Cup by Southend and Celtic and Rangers were both dumped out of the Scottish League Cup in midweek.

And the Forest boss does not want to join the list of shame.

Calderwood is convinced there will be more upsets in the first round of the FA Cup this weekend – but he is determined that Forest will not be among them when they face the Conference South side at the City Ground.

‘I have often been involved in the first round of the Cup, against various opposition,’ he said.

‘Different opposition pose you different problems, but we will give them the utmost respect as always. And the results in the Cup this week add to that – Celtic went out, Rangers got beaten, Manchester United got beaten.

‘There will be shocks this weekend, without any doubt. We have to make sure we are not one of them.’

Forest bowed out of the FA Cup with a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Chester last season, after being forced into a replay by Weymouth, who drew at the City Ground in the first round.

This season, Accrington Stanley ended their interest in the Carling Cup in the first round. But Calderwood says his side have to be wary of Yeading, and reiterated his desire to be in the hat for the second round draw.

‘We have to be mindful of the shock that might happen and be at it 100%.

‘I definitely don’t want a free weekend at the beginning of December when the second round takes place.’
