Forest boss Colin Calderewood is the latest at the club to say this week that he is looking to add to the squad and not reduce it. This follows on from comments made by Chief Executive Mark Arthur, after newspaper talk linking former manager Gary Megson with moves for Tyson and Commons.

Calderwood told the Nottingham Evening Post. ‘We will be looking to add to the squad, not reduce it. There is no truth in these rumours, I have heard nothing. What we want to do is top and tail the squad a little bit, to add to the mix we already have.’

CC has hinted that a keeper is top of his list. He does not believe that Dale Roberts has the experience to fill in for Smith if the need arose. The deputy stopper is short of first team experience, that’s for sure. The NEP also says he is looking to add another midfielder AND a striker!

Apparently CC doesn’t want to be caught short again like last season, admitting that the club was found wanting in the striker department at the end of the last campaign. He said that within three or four games they lost Clingan, Agogo and Tyson and that Holt ended up playing with an injury. ‘Suddenly we were looking threadbare up front when it came to the end of the season.’

Of course looking for players and signing them are two completely different things. CC said they did try to make signings last January but could not get the deals done that they wanted. Let’s hope we have more luck this time round.
