Joe Kinnear, Gary Megson and Colin Calderwood were all deemed not good enough to work at Nottingham Forest, but all three can now be found plying their trade in the worlds top league, the English Premiership.

Colin Calderwood was sacked as boss of Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, following the miserable 4-2 home defeat to then bottom of the table Doncaster Rovers. Today, he’s expected to be joining up with another former boss of the Reds’ in Big Fat Joe Kinnear. It’s not clear yet what his role is exactly, but he will join the St. James’ club as part of the coaching staff.

As much as I was glad to see the back of Calderwood when he finally went, it has to be said that he did do an awful lot of good in his two and a half year spell at the City Ground. He joined us at a real low point in the clubs’ history and in time I think we will all come to say that he was the man who stopped the rot and halted our slide down the leagues. He did afterall get us promotion to the Championship last season, even if we did look like going straight back down again.

On paper it seems an unlikely alliance between BFJ and CC, but I personally wish them well. I think both he and Joe are going to need alot of luck if they hope to avoid playing us next year, as the Geordies sit just 2 points above the drop zone. Calderwood has swapped one relegation battle with us, for one with United….he’s going to need all the luck he can get.
