Calderwood Pleased With Point

Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore called on his side to be ‘more adventurous’ at home following the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest.

He said: ‘I cannot really grumble at the result. It is another point and another clean sheet. But we need to be more adventurous at home. We should have had them on the back foot late on rather than having them coming at us.

‘The lads are very disappointed at the outcome. They feel as if they have lost the game but they certainly have nothing to be down-hearted about. If we carry on the way we are we will have a great promotion chance.

‘There was a great atmosphere in the ground. It is just a pity we were unable to give the fans a goal to go home with. I thought we took our foot off the pedal somewhat and Forest will think they should have won the game. Our keeper certainly did well late on. There were plenty of positives to come out of the game for us.’

Forest manager Colin Calderwood was pleased to leave Prenton Park with his side’s unbeaten run intact but felt his side could have picked up all three points.

‘We got stronger and stronger in the second half and produced a real flourish at the end. We could easily have won it but we have got to be pleased with a point from a keenly-contested game.

‘Tranmere have shown fine form at home and we are the first side to have stopped them from winning in front of their own fans. Our attitude was first-class. Both teams looked well organised and competent.

‘We had hoped to extend our lead at the top but we are happy to have maintained our unbeaten away record ahead of some important games to come.’
