Grant Holt scored the only goal on 88 minutes and Calderwood was pleased with the way his side dealt with losing two players through injury.

He said: ‘Although I am obviously very happy with the result there are little bits and pieces that we must pick up and work on in training.

‘I had to make changes in the first half when we lost two of our back three (Danny Cullip and John Curtis) but we walked off delighted to win.

‘Over the 90 minutes there was enough about us to take the points. Their keeper had made a number of great saves and although Yeovil had a lot of possession they didn’t create as many clear chances as Chesterfield did against us last week.’

Yeovil manager Russell Slade was dejected with the result after his side put in a strong performance.

He said: ‘I couldn’t have asked for more from them. Sometimes football can kick you in the teeth and this was one of those days.

‘My goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall had to make two excellent saves but that is why I brought him with me from Grimsby. He is one of those keepers that is capable of making one or two very important saves in a game.’
