Calderwood Knows It’s Not “Just Another Game”

Forest manager Colin Calderwood has the chance to win a few of his doubters over tomorrow, when we take on arch rivals D*rby County. A win for the Reds’ at Prideless Park, could earn him some much needed street cred and ease the mounting pressure from those calling for his head.

Unlike one of his predecessors Joe Kinnear, Calderwood is aware of the importance of this fixture and knows what it means to the fans. Kinnear suffered defeat at Prideless Park back in 2004 and his expression ‘it’s just another game’ was to be part of his downfall.

Calderwood has been careful not to fall into the same trap and told the official site. ‘Almost since the day we got promotion until the fixtures came out, it was one I was despeate to be involved in and sample the atmosphere. I want to enjoy it and that’s what I intend to do.’

Defeat at the Sheepdip will see many supporters calling for his resignation, but victory could see him win a few over and increase his popularity on the terraces. There’s no doubting he needs it and there’s no better way of achieving it than a win over the Sheep. Forest go into the game as underdogs with only 2 wins all season. The Sheep on the otherhand are in a decent run of form, having only lost one of their last ten. If Calderwood can pull it off on Sunday, he may well have saved his job and in the process earned some credibility from the fans.
