Calderwood Has 4 Games To Save His Ass

It seems that Forest fans are the only people on the planet at present who appear to be backing Colin Calderwood to achieve success at the City Ground.

If you believe what’s been written in the national press, then Big Sam Allardyce is waiting in the wings to take over from CC. Calderwood is even being tipped as the next boss to be given the boot by the bookies, many of them making him red hot favourite.

But, as much as the Forest faithful have criticised the Bronze One in the past (and with good reason), it seems we are sticking with our man, for the time being at least. Take a look around the myriad of Forest forums on the internet and you will find a Poll on every one of them, asking if he should stay or go. The majority of them say that he should stay, if only for the short term. Fans want him to succeed and it seems that we want to give him the time to do it.

I have to admit that I was all for sacking the guy last Christmas, but his achievement in winning promotion bought him a stay of execution at least as far as I was concerned. It may all have been down to a last day fluke, but he got us up nonetheless. He clearly has luck on his side and he’s going to need that to drag us away from the bottom of the table.

For me, Calderwood has four games to save his sorry ass. If by the end of October we haven’t seen a turnaround in results, then he has to go. Some will say, it’s four games too many, but the guy deserves a chance. Some will never accept that he can take the club forward and some will just never take to the guy anyway.

It has to be said that he has been dealt a tough hand regarding injuries (even though some were signed as injured players) and he has been the victim of some dreadful refereeing decisions. The one thing he does have in his favour, is the way he has us playing. We do look a better side than last year and we are playing it on the deck. The ‘hoofball’ style has disappeared in the main and we are seeing the tippy tappy stuff we all know and love. Our biggest problems are a leaky defence and a strikeforce that couldn’t hit a barn door. Sort those two areas out and the jobs’ a good ‘un. Easier said than done though, but in four games time we have to see a change. One way or another I think we will.
