Struggling Bradford City did Forest’s automatic promotion hopes a power of good last night with a shock 3-2 win at promotion-chasing Bristol City.
Forest trail the Robins by four points but both teams have now played 37 matches – and meet at Ashton Gate on March 31.
Spectacular goals from Billy Paynter and Steve Schumacher ensured David Wetherall’s reign began with a bang – and this after they went behind.
Bristol led after 13 minutes thanks to a Phil Jevons header, but were pegged back in the 44th by Paynter’s dipping volley from 30 yards.
Second-half goals from Moses Ashikodi and Schumacher put Bradford in command before Alex Russell fired an injury-time consolation for the home side.
