Following yesterday’s news that the club has sealed a 250-year lease on the City Ground, that will help them in their efforts to redevelop the ground they have played on since the 1800s. There was yet more news off the pitch as the club announced a partnership with the Nottingham Schools FA to help give more children the opportunity to play football in schools.
In their statement when announcing the deal, the club spoke about how budget cuts and restrictions were hampering opportunities for children to play football, and that this injection of funds from the club was the perfect way to address that issue.
The club has had a great tradition of clubs coming through the Nottingham schools system to play for the first team, including the likes of Jermaine Jenas, Kevin Wilson and Wes Morgan, and they’re hoping that this deal provides a route for more kids to make their way from the playground to the City Ground.
Fans took to Twitter to express their pride in their club and how it’s nice to see the feel-good factor continue around the club, both on and off the pitch. Although as is the case with any news announcement during the summer, there’s always one or two who manage to find the negative in the story and wish there was more news on transfers instead.
Everything behind the scenes is absolutely amazing and to think how far we’ve come in such a short space of time in incredible, need to get it sorted on the playing side now and then watch this club grow #nffc

Why should Forest change their perfectly good language just because you always assume a player has signed and you can’t go of on a moan abbot them not being good enough?

Well done Forest. Couldn’t be prouder of my club!

Brilliant news, this is just how large football clubs should be behaving, putting resources back into local communities. Well done

Don’t think much of the new signings, although it’s nice to see they’ve moved the Chairman’s cardboard cut-out outside for a change.

Great gesture and hopefully also enables us first refusal on the best local talent before any vultures or other local sides start to swoop ????
