Following yesterday’s news that the club has sealed a 250-year lease on the City Ground, that will help them in their efforts to redevelop the ground they have played on since the 1800s. There was yet more news off the pitch as the club announced a partnership with the Nottingham Schools FA to help give more children the opportunity to play football in schools.

In their statement when announcing the deal, the club spoke about how budget cuts and restrictions were hampering opportunities for children to play football, and that this injection of funds from the club was the perfect way to address that issue.

The club has had a great tradition of clubs coming through the Nottingham schools system to play for the first team, including the likes of Jermaine Jenas, Kevin Wilson and Wes Morgan, and they’re hoping that this deal provides a route for more kids to make their way from the playground to the City Ground.

Fans took to Twitter to express their pride in their club and how it’s nice to see the feel-good factor continue around the club, both on and off the pitch. Although as is the case with any news announcement during the summer, there’s always one or two who manage to find the negative in the story and wish there was more news on transfers instead.
