Take a look at any of the Nottingham Forest fan sites today and they are for once unanimous on one thing….their condemnation of the match officials, in the 4-1 defeat at Leeds. The message boards can be a messy place after any defeat, where feelings and emotions can often get out of hand, but the anger and frustration following the game at Elland Road on Saturday, seems to have hit new highs (or lows depending on your views).

Forest fans have been hammering away at their keyboards since the moment Simon ‘Larry’ Grayson dived into referee Mark Halsey’s pocket to issue the red card to Cohen and they haven’t stopped since. Chris Cohen’s red card, for what Halsey perceived as a dangerous tackle, was greeted with disbelief by most people who saw the game and virtually everyone who watched the TV replays umpteen times, from every conceivable angle and in slow mo and in HD (such is the way of the modern world).

Despite the outrage being vented by supporters, manager Billy Davies was perhaps being a little more restrained. He refused to be drawn on his opinion of the Halsey horror show and in particular, the incident that saw Chris Cohen sent off.

Davies told the official site that he was proud of the lads and the performance they gave. ‘It is a pity the game didn’t stay 11 versus 11 because we totally dominated the first half, we created chances and severely restricted theirs and we didn’t get what we deserved from the game. I am very proud of the players, they showed they are a side not lacking in confidence, they were very positive and energetic.’
