Boot Out The Boo Boys ?

The vast majority of football supporters turn up on a match day to cheer on and support their team. At twenty six English pounds to watch a game, it seems pointless to me that the first thing some fans do when the whistle blows is to start berating the players they allegedly support. The last thing any player having a torrid time on the pitch needs is some Saturday afternoon footie pundit telling him he’s as popular as an STD. This is hardly the way to get the best out of anyone.

Some may argue that you pay your money, so you are entitled to your say. This is true and there are indeed occasions when I’ve indulged in a bit of player bating myself. Nicky Eaden suffered more than once, as did Scott Gemmill many years ago, but these were exceptional circumstances, they deserved it!

Forest have been sitting on top of League 1 for most of the season and whilst it would have to be admitted the football has not been fantastic, we have more often than not, finished with the spoils. A win is a win after all. Oldham and Scunthorpe were two games that got the boo boys shouting from the rafters and some would say, with some justification. But these were vintage performances when compared to previous debacles. Plymouth, Barnsley, Oldham, (again)were real cause for the boo boys to vent their anger, but not when we are sitting on top of the pile. Calderwood is only now realising what a sorry bunch he has on his hands and I’m sure come January, he will sort the wheat from the chaff, until then we must get behind him and do what we are supposed to and support.

Bristol City, if we believe what we are told, will bring 4,000 fans to the City Ground on Saturday, (God knows’ where they are going to park all those tractors) and they will be cheering their side on for 90 mins. We will have our part to play and could be the proverbial 12th man, if we get behind the team. We have had plenty to moan about in recent times, and i have done my share, but we are possibly on the verge of seeing the good times again. Keep the faith.
