According to The Sun, Leicester City are leading the race for Macauley Bonne’s signature, with Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Huddersfield Town also reportedly keen. The 23-year-old has a lot of Championship interest too from Norwich City, Stoke City and Nottingham Forest, but the Reds are likely to fail in their pursuit to bring him to the City Ground.

Bonne plays for Leyton Orient and has scored 16 goals in 23 National League games this season. The Zimbabwe striker, who has played for the likes of Colchester United, Lincoln City and Woking FC, could be on the move from Brisbane Road amid all the interest in his services, but it’s hard to see him picking Forest over the rest of the competition.

The centre-forward stands more chance of playing with a side in the second tier, but the lure of the Premier League is too hard to resist. He’d be on greater money than at Championship level and will play against some of the best players in the world. Bonne would be a bargain, with The Sun valuing him at £500k, but Karanka might avoid the striker as he already has Daryl Murphy, Hilel Soudani and Karim Ansarifard for options.
