With only five games to go before our fate is decided, Forest boss Billy Davies believes that we can secure our own future by winning our three remaining home games.

The first of those crucial encounters comes on Saturday, with the visit of Bristol City and Davies says the preparations ahead of the game are going well. Davies told the official site. ‘Out of the five games we still need two wins and a draw or three wins, whatever it may be. We’ve got three important home matches and, in my opinion, our future lies in our hands. We’ve got to recognise that and be very determined going into the games, particularly those at The City Ground.’

You wouldn’t expect the gaffer to be saying anything different at this stage, but he has it in a nutshell. The problem for him, is in transfering that belief and conviction to the players. With so few games remaining in which to secure Championship football next term, the fans can play their part too. There is something approaching a siege mentality amongst supporters, that for once sees us all singing from the same songbook. We may not be in total agreement with how the club is being run, but we all know the consequences of dropping back into League 1. A partisan atmosphere can be expected for these final three games at home, with the fans roaring them on all the way. We’re going to need a huge slice of luck to pull it off, but it won’t be for the lack of trying on the managers’ part, ot that of the fans. All we need now is for the players to do their bit and everything’s peachy.
