Forest boss Billy Davies has today agreed an extension to his current contract at the City Ground and has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2017.

With only 11 games of the current campaign completed, the timing may seem a little strange, but the move will be viewed as a positive one by the vast majority of fans. The Reds’ sit in 4th position in the Championship table and are genuine top 6 contenders based on those 11 games to date.

This is the second spell in charge at the City Ground for Davies, who returned to the club last January after a 20 month absence, following his sacking in 2011. He narrowly missed out on the Playoffs last season and will be hoping for better progress this time round.

Reds’ chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi told the official site. ‘This is a fantastic day for Nottingham Forest. Billy and I have the same long-term vision for the club and I am absolutely delighted that he has agreed to sign an extension to his contract. I look forward with great excitement to working alongside him for many years to come as we aim to bring success back to this magnificent club.’

Forest return to league action tomorrow after the two week international break, when they take on Bournemouth at the City Ground.
