Following the 2-1 defeat at Norwich City on Friday night and results elsewhere in the Championship on Saturday, Nottingham Forest now sit 2 points away from a Playoff spot. Although we have only chalked up 1 win in the last 10 games, we can at least draw some crumbs of comfort from the fact that the form is improving, even if the results are not.

In his post match interview, Davies said. ‘It was a good team performance, we played some wonderful stuff, we hit the post twice and missed from six yards and should have got something from the game.’

Forest were worthy of a point at Norwich, but once again poor finishing highlighted the reason for our continued slide down the table. The last 3 games have shown up our inconsistencies as well. A good performance at home to Reading ended in a 4-3 defeat. A poor performance against Burnley won all 3 points and the defeat at Norwich ended in nothing again for our endeavours.

There shouldn’t be too many complaints about the defeat to the Canaries, who are on a great run at present and in 3rd place on merit. I’d be quite happy to see them beat Cardiff into 2nd place and for them to win promotion on the evidence I’ve seen this season. Billy Davies himself praised NCFC, saying ‘Norwich played some wonderful stuff, great credit to Paul Lambert and his players, they have a fantastic togetherness at the club and I wish them well.’

With only 4 games left to play, we’re still very much in the mix. A win at home to Leicester on Friday will put us back up to 6th. Although that could be short lived, depending how things turn out elsewhere the following day.
