Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Michael Dawson is ‘still sidelined’ and will miss Wednesday night’s clash with Hull City as a result. The 35-year-old has been out of action with a calf injury and was expected to return to training this week. The meeting with Hull has come too soon for him, however.

Dawson’s last appearance for Forest came in the 3-2 win over Stoke City (September 27). He’s missed every game for Forest this month –  1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers (October 1), 1-0 win over Brentford (October 5) and 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic (October 20).

After Wednesday’s meeting with Hull, Forest face Reading on Saturday. It remains to be seen whether Dawson will be fit in time. In his absence, Sabri Lamouchi has called upon Tobias Figueiredo and Chema Rodriguez to play alongside Joe Worrall in defence.

Figueiredo didn’t crown himself in glory in Sunday’s defeat to Wigan, however, so he may be the one missing out against the Tigers. Time will tell.

Dawson’s absence will be felt as he’s helped Forest keep three clean sheets in nine Championship appearances. The Reds have the second-best defensive record in the division (10 conceded) too.
