Nottingham Forest are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Britt Assombalonga in the three nil victory over Ipswich Town at the weekend at the City Ground was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Assombalonga was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Nottingham Forest found themselves in the Sky Bet Championship bottom three for a period on Sunday, with both Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City winning on the final day. But Britt Assombalonga sealed Forest`s survival with a crucial brace in a 3-0 win, and he would have taken home the match ball had it not been for a superb penalty save by Ipswich Town`s Bartosz Bialkowski.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Assombalonga for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

James McKeown (Grimsby Town), Joe Bennett (Cardiff City), Rory McArdle (Bradford City), Michael Morrison (Birmingham City), DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle United), Tarique Fosu (Colchester United), Wes Hoolahan (Norwich City), Kal Naismith (Portsmouth), Steve Morison (Millwall), Chris Dagnall (Crewe Alexandra), Britt Assombalonga (Nottingham Forest).
