Are Forest Finding Promotion Form?

Nottingham Forest will hope to make it three on the bounce, with a win over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night. The 3-1 victory over Cheltenham almost guarantees them a playoff place with only five games left to play.

Reds boss Colin Calderwood seems content with how things are going now, especially with back to back victories behind him. In less than a week he’s somehow managed to silence the chants for his dismissal and got us back to winning ways.

Those chants are only a game away though and he should not forget that. Things may seem fine and dandy on the surface, but the woeful display at Doncaster and many others before it are still fresh in the memories of the fans. But winning is what it’s all about and if he continues as he has this week we will have little to complain about.

Complain we will though, because many have already made their minds up re Calderwood and his style of management. It won’t matter whether he succeeds or fails in his efforts to gain us promotion, as many want rid in either event. Promotion via the playoffs is still a long way off and by no means a certainty. But we have seen signs of late, that we do have the ability. The problem is consistency.

With only five games left and the four playoff places still to be settled, it would be the right time to hit a winning streak. The major stumbling block for Calderwood and the team, is that they have so far in this campaign failed to win more than two consecutive matches. That millstone around their necks could be removed with a win over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday and set us up nicely for the bum twitching run in.
