According to TWTD, Ipswich Town are interested in Daryl Murphy, with manager Paul Lambert looking to sign the Nottingham Forest centre-forward on loan in January. Aitor Karanka is short on cover in attack, however, so it seems highly unlikely that Murphy will be allowed to leave this season.
The 35-year-old has recently returned from injury and continues to get playing time from the bench. Murphy made his comeback on December 1, being named in the matchday squad as Forest beat Ipswich Town 1-0, and Karanka has given the striker minutes wherever he can this month.
With Forest over-reliant on Lewis Grabban, Murphy will be needed to take the scoring burden off his shoulders at times. Prior to his injury, the Irish international contributed six goals in eight games in all competitions and has worked hard to recover after two months out.
Ipswich might have to turn their attentions elsewhere in January. Unless Forest sign some cover for Grabban next month, they surely won’t allow Murphy to leave. Karanka has Hilel Soudani and Karim Ansarifard, but the former has been sidelined with injury and the latter is getting less playing time than Murphy now.
