So as the 11pm chimes ring out on Big Ben, Jim White, Slimon Jordan, Sky Tottie & Co – summarise the various transfer movers & shakers on deadline day.

As many a beleagured Forest fan will testify – these have largely been disppointing non entities, clinging the to the hope that a Forest deal was done, but it`s just taking a little while to register with the smiling Sky Pundits.

This January appeared to be heading in the same direction, with the only shining beacon of positive news being the new 2.5 year contract for Andy Reid and his appointment as club captain.

Forest had been linked to many, certainly far more than I have time to type and the Jack Hobbs saga was destined to run to the wire – with the seemingly inevitable disappointment of his smiling face holding a rival`s shirt.

Ishmail Miller & Simon Gillett completed the formalities on loans to see them both see out their remaining Forest contracts on loan at Yeovil Town & Bristol City respectively. Strangely, at the time of writing, there have been no other such departures – although, a few more may end up being loaned out – when that window opens in a few days.

Wednesday, 29th January – a date hitherto unimportant, marked a decided change in all things Nottingham Forest. Rafik Djebbour – an Algerian international striker had been proclaiming via Twitter for days that he was a Red – this was duly confirmed.

Thursday, 30th January – Kevin Gomis and Danny Fox are confirmed as signings 2 & 3, paraded proudly on the pitch with our esteemed Chairman, prior to the Watford game. So, off the pitch things were definitely coming together, on the pitch, Forest staged a remarkable comeback – seeing off Watford with 4 second half goals from strikers.

Friday, 31st January – Deadline Day.

As is the life of a Forest fan, some were happy that 3 players had come in already, some wanted more as Forest were still linked with plenty – some just wanted us to keep hold of the promising youngsters.

‘Tweet, Tweet’ – Mid afternoon conformation that David Vaughan completes his loan switch to Forest for the remainder of the season. Great news, great addition – very good window. Fingers crossed none leave.

Speculation continues to surround the future of Jack Hobbs, a defensive collossus this season, local hacks mention he has been spotted in Nottingham??

‘Tweet, Tweet’ – as the countdown clock clicks towards 11pm – Fawaz Al Hasawi confirms ‘la piece de resistance` – Jack Hobbs signs a 4.5 year permanent deal at Forest. Jack confirms, despite other interest, this was the only place he wanted to be – awesome news.

I have to admit, I kept on watching for the next hour – just to make sure we hadn`t been hoodwinked and we had sold someone to fund these incomings. An unexpected positive January transfer window comes to a close.

The final words have to go to our Chairman (taken directly from his Twitter page):

@FAWAZ_ALHASAWI ‏@fawaz_alhasawi1

I have done all I can this month to bring the right players to our beloved club and I`m thrilled with what we`ve achieved. That brings the window to a close. I hope you are as happy with our signings as I am. As ever I couldn`t have done this without your support, so a huge thank you to you all. We must now all focus on getting right behind the team, starting at the Yeovil match on Sunday. Let`s fill The City Ground. Come On You Reds!

Well almost the final words, Thank you Mr Al Hasawi – your support of our sleeping giant of a club is truly appreciated.

Come On You Reds!!
