It`s been a long time coming, but at long last the commemorative statue to the greatest Forest manager ever, has been unveiled.

I have to say that it`s an impressive sight and has rightly been given a fitting and prominent position in the Market Square. Situated on the corner of King Street and Queen Street, the 9ft, tall bronze tribute, cuts an imposing figure. The Great Man would have been modestly impressed with it himself.

At a cost of £60,000, raised by the good folk of Nottingham, with the help of the Brian Clough Statue Fund and the City Council, it has almost been worth the wait. The unveiling of the statue was performed by Brian Cough`s wife, Barbara. Also present were other members of the Clough family, including Son and former player, Nigel. NFFC were represented by Colin Calderwood, as well as Chairman Nigel Doughty and Chief Executive, Mark Arthur.

The only downer to an otherwise memorable day,was the huge gaff made by TV presenter Gary Newbon. He proudly stated ‘What a great tribute the Brian Clough statue was to the city of Birmingham.’ He was roundly booed by the assembling crowd, even after rectifying his mistake. Plank!

Next time you`re in the city centre check it out. I promise you won`t be disappointed. Well done to all concerned, it really is a fitting tribute to a Great Man.
