Aitor Karanka has stepped down as manager of Nottingham Forest and supporters have made their discontentment clear with the decision. Fans have also chosen who they’d like to replace him – former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic. The 50-year-old is the bookies’ favourite and won 5% of the vote on Twitter.

Jokanovic was sacked by Fulham on November 18, 2018 and replaced by Claudio Ranieri. The Cottagers were struggling in their first season back in the Premier League and decided to part company with the boss who got them there in the first place. Jokanovic has many admirers and is reportedly being targeted by Forest to replace Karanka.

Other managers in the running include Martin O’Neill, Nigel Clough, Gary Rowett, Roy Keane, Sam Allardyce, Derek McInnes, Mark Hughes, Alan Pardew, Carlos Carvalhal, Chris Wilder, Danny Cowley, Garry Monk, Lee Johnson, Juande Ramos, Simon Grayson and Steve Bould. Jokanovic leads the race, however, and might be convinced due to Forest’s position in the table.

The Reds could go within in a point of the Championship playoffs if they win at Reading on Saturday. They have only lost five games from 26 and boast the third-best defensive record this season. Forest are also coming off the back of a 4-2 win over Leeds United, so why wouldn’t Jokanovic take a punt of the promotion hopefuls?
