New Nottingham Forest manager Martin O’Neill picked up his first win as gaffer following his arrival as Aitor Karanka’s replacement the other week and it was a much needed three points against Wigan Athletic to boost spirits and hopefully get our Play-Off push back on track.

The game was never really in doubt after Joe Lolley opened the scoring, as although they drew level to tie things up at 1-1, a quick second half goal from Matty Cash restored our advantage and a late effort from Adlene Guedioura secured the points.

According to statistics website Whoscored, Forest had a number of positive performances on the day and although 26-year-old Lolley took their star man award with a rating of 8.69, two other players scored in the eight-plus range.

Cash and goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon picked up 8.37 and 8.13 respectively, and completing the top five best performers in their rankings were Guedioura (7.60) and Ben Osborn (7.05).

Everyone will be hoping it’s the first of a number of victories under our former players’ charge.
